About

Inkless Media was founded by Joe Vaz in 2003 as an independent digital media production company. Initially established for the production of online content (web design, flash animation), the company quickly moved into the realm of film, music and publishing.

In 2004, Inkless Media produced and financed two short films, written and directed by Joe, namely Play By Heart and Blue Valentine (co-written by Vianne Venter) and the creative team began to take shape.

To date, Inkless Media has produced three short films, an album for alternative band ten Athlone, several dozen websites, a quarterly print magazine and audio dramas. We are currently developing a sitcom for television.

Our mission statement is to make tangible the impossible. We love challenges. In 2005 we shot a 5-minute short film across two cities in two continents on a zero-budget micro-indie production. Just to prove we could.
Inkless Media believes in striving for excellence without breaking the bank. Our strength is in our diversity. Whether you need writers/scriptwriters, directors, cinematographers, producers, actors, singers, musicians, layout artists/designers or editors, we have them.

Our passion lies in  story-telling in any medium. This is what drives us.

Company Outline

Inkless Media can take your project from initial concept phase all the way to the final packaged product without breaking the workflow of the project. And we do it within budget.

Most recently, Inkless Media has published nine issues of our quarterly print magazine, Something Wicked, which has subscribers and contributors across the globe including Australia, Japan, Poland, France, the UK, USA and Canada and of course South Africa.

The Something Wicked website receives over 170,000 hits per month and continues to grow. The Something Wicked brand has evolved to include online e-books, downloadable Podcasts and audio dramas adapted from the stories published within the magazine. The entire workflow of the magazine is handled in-house, from the website design to the story choices, editing, layout and packaging. The only thing we don’t do is printing and distribution. Yet.
