Inkless Media are the proud publishers of South Africa's only horror and science-fiction short fiction magazine; Something Wicked. Armed with nothing other than a deep respect and understand for the genre, Inkless Media launched itself into a 12 month learning curve into the world of print media.
Launched in October of 2006, Something Wicked has grown both in market strength and literary reputation, with fiction submissions coming in from the US, the UK, Australia, China and, of course, South Africa. Despite the huge influx of international submissions, Something Wicked continues to remain true to its mission of promoting primarily South African content and has to date published over 40 stories with over 100 pieces of artwork all written and illustrated by South Africans.
Published quarterly, Something Wicked also focuses on in-depth, frank interviews with notable writers, directors and stars working within the horror and science-fiction genres, interviews which to date have included Stephen King, John Connolly, Neil Gaiman, Ed Neumeier, Jolene Blalock, Stephen Francis and Steven Strait, to name but a few. Comprised almost entirely of contributed content, Something Wicked is not only unique in it's format and content, it is the only magazine to offer South African writers and artists a prominent, internationally accessible platform within which they can display their abilities and advance their careers. To date Something Wicked has facilitated the full-time employment of at least one of its writers within the TV industry, arranged gallery meetings for some of its artists and is currently working on the adaptation to screenplay of one the stories published. The future of SA writing is bright and Something Wicked is here to help light the way. For more information please check out www.SomethingWicked.co.za |
